No Middle Ground

I had just completed my 100th program of “Moments of Truth.” It ended with Jesus is the King of Kings, Lord of Lords and Lion of Judah. It was truly a milestone of television programming for me and the Antiguan production crew. We were filming at beautiful Long Bay Beach with it’s white powder sand and aqua backdrop. Immediately Frank, the producer, gave me a thumbs up and said, “I love your passion for Jesus. However, I believe he was a good man, but just a man.” I responded initially with one word. “Impossible.”

You see, Jesus claimed some amazing or outrageous attributes and qualities depending on your perspective: Sinless on earth (John 8:46-47), Only way to God (John 14:6), Forgiver of sins (Luke 5:20-21), Heavenly king (John 18:36-37), Giver of everlasting life (John 10:28-30), and Would die and come back to life (John 10:17).

Really! With those claims we are only left with two options. He is either a liar, a fraud, manipulator, and consummate fake or he is God. THERE IS NO MIDDLE GROUND.

The question is still the same now or yesteryear. “But who do you say that I am?” (Matthew 16:15). This person who had the best tweet ever said, “You shall love the Lord your God. You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” It revealed his core. He didn’t just tell us that he loved us, he showed us. It’s true isn’t it, that the two most important days in our life is the day we are born and the day we find out why? In Jesus, we find our origin and purpose.

Ravi Zacharias the Indian born Christian apologist made many inspirational statements during his lifetime. Here is one that just exudes assurance, “There is no greater discovery than seeing God as the author of your destiny.” Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying.” (John 11:25)
